Menu Plan Monday ~ September 15th

And so another week begins... and my worries and fears have been realized. When I started out doing a weekly menu plan, I was concerned because I know how our schedules can be. For the past couple of weeks, the hectic schedules have returned. It makes for an interesting planning experience but we're determined not to resort to eating out all the time. So we press on. Sorry it's not very interesting but I need to post this more to keep myself accountable so please bear with me.
Monday:
Soup and grilled cheese
Tuesday:
I have CPA so I will be eating there.
Daniel will fix something easy at the house.
Wednesday:
Daniel is working and I will be helping a friend.
Thursday:
Sloppy Joes
Friday:
Daniel's working so I'll fix something at the house.

Menu Plan Monday ~ September 8th

Okay... so I missed a week. Because,... well... I'm lazy like that. But it would've been the same thing every day so it would have been boring. Last Monday was of course Labor Day which we spent with Daniel's parents. Thankfully, they fed us. Then on Tuesday, while I was at my CPA (Citizen's Police Academy) cookout, Daniel was at work. He has worked Tuesday until Sunday (yesterday). So you can imagine what my dinner plans entailed. Rather boring and honestly, most of it wasn't at home. Thankfully though, Daniel doesn't go back to work until Friday! I'm super excited about that! I've missed him. Because he is still in school, he can only work nights and weekends at his retail job. And when he works nights, he is supposed to get off at 9:30, sometimes it's later though. Then calculate the 30 minute trip from his work to our home and you can figure that I'm lucky to get an hour with him before I have to go to bed. Honestly, it's depressing. But such is life. While this summer has certainly been stressful without him getting many hours, it has been nice to have him at home!
This week will be different though. You see, it's my birthday week. While we don't have any set plans aside from my birthday lunch, there's no telling what will happen. And, well, to be honest, we didn't figure up our menu anyway. But here's the run down as best as I can figure... and it will most likely change...
Monday:
Most likely will end up with fettucine alfredo.
Tuesday:
Daniel's on his own as I enjoy the driving training at CPA.
Wednesday:
Either we'll have a friend over for dinner for something, or we'll go out for my birthday dinner with my parents. Not set yet.
Thursday:
I'm off work so I'll be going to 'school' with Daniel and enjoying a birthday lunch with him!
Friday:
There's a party happening for another friend so I'll be there. Daniel's working.
All in all, it's going to be interesting how things work out.. We shall see. I'm excited about Daniel only having one class on my birthday! That means we'll be able to spend more of it together and it makes it possible for me to join him in the city where his school is. And yes, it's a different city than we live in... and a different city than we work in. We do a lot of driving...

Daniel's working so frozen/canned food
Wednesday:
Daniel's working so frozen/canned food
Thursday:
Daniel's working

That's my menu for the week. What will you be eating this week? Let us know and share it here!

Menu Plan Monday ~ August 18th

Things are going to be interesting this week. Daniel is closing at work Wednesday through Saturday so I'll be on my own. I guess I'll be doing a lot of frozen/canned meals or something quick and easy for one person. I've been making a lot of egg based things. I tried french toast for the first time in a long time yesterday. It was yummy! What do you call your toast with the egg in the center? I believe I've always heard it as a Bull's Eye. Or a Bird's Nest... What do you call it? Regardless, I made those and it turned out really well. Then of course there's the old standbys of egg sandwiches and eggs and toast.
It's been interesting. Since we have started buying groceries versus picking up fast food, not only have I lost weight, but I also don't have a desire for fast food as much any more. Instead of wondering what I'm going to pick up, I'm thinking about what I'm going to eat. The structure has been really nice. I'm liking it. Though, I have to be honest, the plans that you see aren't necessarily what we have. We follow for the most part, but sometimes, it's on a different day. Oh well. One of the nicest things is that we have food in the house! When I get hungry, I don't have to get up and leave! Saturday, I wanted something sweet and for the first time in my adult life, I had the ingredients for cookies, without making a run to the store! It was wonderful! Made me right proud of myself! Anyway, without further ado.... my menu.
Monday:
Tacos! My parents, brother, and niece will be joining us! I'm excited!
Tuesday:
A Home style Bake. I forget which kind, chicken something.
Wednesday-Saturday:
I'm going to wing it... We have Ramen noodles, Ravioli, sandwich meat, eggs, frozen pizza. And the list continues. Who knows, maybe I'll join my parents or in-laws for dinner one night.
Do you menu plan? If so, join us here!

Menu Plan Monday ~ August 4th

After last week, I feel confident that I can do this again. it went very well! We spent less than $40 and even had Daniel's parents over for dinner. We didn't stick exactly to the plan, mostly because we forgot to set the meat out, but things went well. It was really nice to know what we're having and know that we had what we needed instead of wondering which restaurant to pick up something. I'm going to be a little more adventurous this week and make a few things that I haven't made much or ever. I'm excited about it though! Join us with your own Menu Plan Monday here.
Monday:
I will be at my parent's house helping my mom study for her final exam.
Daniel will either go to his parent's house or have a frozen pizza.
Tuesday:
Fettucine Alfredo
Crescent rolls (Odd, but I need to break in my new Pampered Chef pan)
Wednesday:
Pancakes!
Thursday:
Soft tacos
chips and salsa
Hoping Daniel's friend joins us
Friday:
My mother is graduating from the Police Academy!! We're having a get-together and will be eating there.
Saturday:
Daniel is working and will taking a sandwich or a frozen meal.
I will eat at my parent's house again as I have a photo shoot in their town.

Menu Plan Monday ~ July 28th

Or my first attempt at it. It will all prove interesting as we work around my husband's work schedule and in a month, his school schedule too. We are going to try to limit the meat right off for many reasons. Expense for one but inexperience for another. While there are a few meat dishes that I can cook, I didn't want to overwhelm myself and start with this huge flying leap out of the gate. So we're starting off small. Things we know, we've made before, type of thing. I already have complied several recipes that I'd love to try but again, I don't want to overwhelm and end up saying, "This is too hard!"

Monday:
I'm having dinner with a friend.
Daniel plans on eating sandwiches.
Tuesday:
Sloppy Joes (Liz, this was already on the list before I found your recipe for the crock pot! Too funny)
Wednesday:
Daniel's working so he will take leftover Sloppy Joes with him. I will have a frozen pizza or Ramen noodles
Thursday:
Grilled cheese
Carrots with ranch
Friday:
Egg sandwiches
Saturday:
Daniel's working again so he will do either a frozen meal or canned ravioli. I will eat something at the house, ravioli, Ramen noodles, or the like.
Sunday:
We've left this kind of up in the air as our normal practice is out to eat after church with something smaller for dinner. Daniel may be working Sunday so that may change. We aren't sure. We'll play it by ear.
