Memories and Rainbows

I wrote this poem when I was probably 15 or 16 years old. As I was searching for other paperwork last night, I found it again. It made me smile so I thought I'd share!

Rainbow

Somewhere over the rainbow
We’re told life will be peachy-keen
Crystal clear skies on the horizon
And all the grass will be green

Somewhere over the rainbow
Everyone will smile
The world will be right once more
Everything will again be worthwhile

On this side of the rainbow
Peace is hard to find
Futures are not secure
Fear is in the back of our mind

On this side of the rainbow
The skies are anything but clear
Happiness seems but an illusion
And we’re stripped of all that we hold dear

Looking for a rainbow
Many people are led astray
Hopes are often dashed
And we’re left in disarray

Looking for a rainbow
That thing that offers hope
We grasp at anything only to find
There is nothing to help us cope

I have found a Rainbow
And His name is Jesus
He calls for our surrender
It is only then that He can free us

I have found a Rainbow
And you can find Him too
For even in the dead of night
His colors will still shine through

I remember this...and i remember your pre school performance where you waved your colorful scarves in the circle with your classmates singing..."You can be a rainbow, too..." Wonder if Aunt N remembers that?
